When someone asks me, "Regular or Decaf", I must have a smirk on my face a mile wide. Decaf????? What's the point? Regular coffee is the gasoline of life. Decaf is just hot, brown stained water. When it's coffee time, please don't ask me if I want regular or decaf. If you want to ask me a question, ask me if I'd like a refill of my regular coffee. Do you pull into a Shell station and ask for water in your car? Nope! You put gas in it! Gas makes the car run! Caffeinated coffee makes ME run. Decaf? Oh puh-leeeeeeeeze spare me!

Blow your horn
In drivers education I was taught to blow my horn to alert other drivers of my presence. If somebody drifts into your lane, blow your horn for safety. If somebody needs to be alerted of imminent danger, blow your horn for safety. This guy has to win the award for the world's safest driver!
BTW--- Fun Fact. Did you know most car horns honk the note of F or F#? It's true. I'm not kidding about that.

A night at GABP
I enjoyed a wonderful night at Great American Ballpark last night with a good friend of mine. The weather could not have been any more perfect... cool with no humidity. The Reds won with 4 home runs including a grand slam. Raisiel Iglesias struck out 3 batters in the 9th inning to earn everybody in the stadium free pizza. It was just an all around good time.
Beautiful full moon over the ball park.
In light of recent reports about Pete Rose admitting to sexual relationships with young girls back in the 70's, perhaps this statue does not depict Pete diving into 3rd base, but instead leaping head first into inappropriate (and maybe even illegal) relationships. Such a sad story. The man had the world on a string and threw it all away.

No shoes
On Friday when we watched Asher. His daddy dropped him off and left about a hundred diapers, plenty of clothing and everything else we needed... except shoes. Thankfully we weren't going anywhere shoes were needed, so things worked out fine. I just had to laugh when I saw this...

Patience Please
Ladies and gentlemen of the blogosphere...
Please be patient with me and the blog for the next week or so. I am experiencing some difficulties with my school issued laptop, and my posts may be short and/or sporadic. I will do my best to maintain the level of quality you have come to expect from this blog on a daily basis. Please don't tune out. I promise I will be back with a vengeance when my computer problems are resolved.
Yours Truly,
Mick (Silence Runs Deep)

The Uphill Battle
And you wonder why I say teaching is so difficult? Supposedly educated adults are responsible for these...

Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday today, to my wonderful wife! I will not announce her age, but suffice it to say we have been married for 26 years, and she was older than 16 when we got married. You do the math.
Happy Birthday, my love! May God bless you on your special day!
Soli Deo Gloria!

Goodbye Summer
Goodbye summer. I hardly knew you.
You may be saying, "Wait. What? Hold on a minute, Mick... it's only August 1st. You still have another month of summer, right?"
Nope! Teachers getting off three months in the summer is a myth. This year school begins on August 14th. Today I started getting my classroom ready for the new school year. As you likely know, it takes quite a while to get a classroom ready for teaching students. I wish I could walk out of school on the last day of school, and walk back in on the first day of school. But that's not the way it works.
Summer vacation ended today. On one hand I am sad, but on the other hand, I know it's time to get back to work. I'm not complaining about the shortness of my summer. I've had a lot of time off, and I have enjoyed every minute of it. Please pray for me as I begin my 28th year of teaching.
Soli' Deo Gloria!
