We are blessed

We have been married for nearly thirty years. Up until last year we drove old, broken down, beat up, recycled cars for the most part. In November of 2019 we purchased a '17 Toyota Camry for Tami. Less than two weeks ago we purchased an '18 RAV4 for me. We have worked hard our entire lives and have sacrificed over the years. These two cars are a culmination of that work, and of God's continued blessing on us.

 Soli Deo Gloria.

Not a very good picture, but here they are side by side.

New Year?

New year, new outlook, right? Yeah... no. Not so much.

Don't know what you got

You don't know what you got, til it's gone! You thought 2020 was bad? Just wait until you see what 2021 (and beyond) has to offer. Biden will be your President. He was not elected legitimately and is going to be inaugurated only because of rampant voter fraud. I am not a conspiracy theorist, and this is not sour grapes. I 100% believe Trump won in a landslide and election fraud was successfully executed. Just wait until Biden is President with a democrat controlled Senate and House of Representatives. Just wait until there is a nationwide mask mandate. Just wait until socialist policies start to take hold (it will take a while... things will seem good at first, but trust me, it won't stay that way). Just wait until you see what else 2021 has to offer. I promise you'll be begging for 2020 to come back. Mark. My. Words!

Final Jeopardy

I love trivia. I always have. I guess it's because I have a good memory and tend to remember minute details about a lot of things. People have always said I am smart because I can answer a lot of trivia questions. I disagree. Let's not confuse intelligence with remembering minutia. I will give anybody a run for their money in trivia games, but I will never be what you would call an intelligent person.

Having said that, my love of trivia translates into a love for the gameshow, Jeopardy! I love watching it, and I love shouting answers at my television as I play along. Well, tonight brings the end of an era. Alex Trebek, who passed away in early November, will appear for the last time as the host of this iconic gameshow. This final episode was taped in late October, and airs tonight at 7:30. It's going to be sad, and Jeopardy will never be the same. There will be interim guest hosts, and Alex's replacement will eventually take the helm, but the show will never, ever be the same. With Alex's last show airing tonight, suddenly Final Jeopardy takes on a whole new meaning.

Goodbye, Alex! Weeknights at 7:30 will never be the same.

Goodbye forever, Bengals

Aside from all the kneeling during the national anthem, and all the other political statements made during NFL football games, there is yet another reason I have sworn off the Bengals forever. They are joke of a professional sports organization. The Bengals last won a playoff game 30 years ago today. January 6th, 1991. If you're doing the math, the Bengals have not won a playoff game in my married life... and we celebrate our 30th anniversary this summer. Goodbye forever, Bengals. It is so freeing not worrying about football every Sunday.

No Sunshine

You know, I could probably handle the cold temperatures of winter if we got to see the sun from time to time. It seems like all we get is one dark, dreary, cloudy, gray, gloomy day after another. Couple that with darkness falling about 5:00 every day and you have a recipe for the blahs. It's only the first week of January and I already have the winter blues. UGH!

Back to school

Back to school today. The kids are struggling. I am struggling. It's cold. It's dreary. The mood today is somber and reserved. The excitement of Christmas has long since died and it's time to buckle down for the long haul of winter that encompasses January through March.

"This is the day the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it". Psalm 118:24

It is sometimes a challenge to apply this verse. It's easy to take on a "woe is me" attitude when a long vacation ends and dumps me smack in the middle of winter. However, scripture is God's Word and it contains wisdom and His promises. I am preaching to myself today and working on rejoicing in being back at school. I admit I am spoiled and far too attached to my leisure time and comfort. The Lord has blessed me today. I arrived at work safely in my new car. I am healthy. I am blessed with a wonderful wife, amazing children and their spouses, swet grandchildren. I slept in a warm, cozy bed last night. I spent the night in a house with newly repaired heating. I have food in my pantry, and I have a full belly this morning. My cup overflows with blessings. I have no cause to be unhappy or to complain. The Lord has given me another day full of His mercy, and His grace. This is the day the Lord hath made. And yes, I am rejoicing, and I am glad in it!

 Soli Deo Gloria!
