Today would have been my dad's 76th birthday. He has been gone for almost 29 years. I sure do miss him!

Last night 10 democrat hopefuls took the stage for the first debate in the presidential primary season. As expected it was a total circus.

I never thought of putting it this way, but he is exactly right! A lot of people talk just to hear the sound of their own voice. Nobody ever questions them. People like me who prefer to be quiet (hence the name of this blog... Silence Runs Deep), are always questioned. Why are you so quiet? Are you mad at something? Don't you have anything to say? Don't you have any thoughts on the matter? It's usually none of the above. Usually it's a case of just preferring to be quiet. There's nothing wrong. Some people would rather be quiet. It's as simple as that. There's no great mystery here.

Getting older

The older I get, the more I understand the adults in my life from when I was a kid...

Me: Sure. I'll need about $10 in quarters and I'll be a while.

Joe Biden

Joe Biden made a campaign stop in Iowa and said if elected President "we're gonna cure cancer". Crazy, creepy Uncle Joe is ridiculous!

Here's the quote:

"That's why I've worked so hard in my career to make sure that... I promise you if I'm elected president, you're going to see the single most important thing that changes America, we're gonna cure cancer," Biden declared.

We're gonna cure cancer? Do you have a mouse in your pocket, crazy Uncle Joe?

They're growing

I planted my tomatoes exactly one month ago today. They are doing well. Tami will be enjoying garden fresh tomatoes in a matter of weeks.

D Day

The President visited England and France to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D Day. It's still one of the most incredible military operations in history.

Exhausting

We enjoyed our visit with the grandkids immensely, but I'm not going to pretend it wasn't exhausting. Those three kids run full throttle from the time they wake up until they go to bed. I really don't know how Jessi does it. There is never a moment's peace for her. Here's an oversimplified view of the situation from another parent...

Back home

Sing it with me... Back home again in Indianaaaaaaaaaa!

Tami and I landed at CVG about 11:00 Monday night and got home about 11:30. We had an absolutely amazing trip and we miss the Mortons already! They will be coming north later this year and we can't wait!

Many thanks to my son, the Butterhead, for taking care of the house while we were gone. Everything looks perfect! Not one thing out of place. Good job, son!
