Ouch!

Just because you're rich, doesn't mean you're smart... Duh!

Still Fighting

Tami and I are having a wonderful time at the beach, but out enjoyment is tempered with feelings of sadness. We really miss our three kids and three grandchildren. We really, really wish they could be here with us. Every ten seconds we see something that reminds us of them or we see something we know they'd enjoy. We have so many memories of vacations past with our kids. It is so strange now that it's just the two of us.

Don't cry for us though. Lounging on the beach under an umbrella isn't all bad :-)

I've taken some photos, but have had some trouble getting them onto the computer. I'm still fighting my computer, and the computer is winning. I will probably have to wait and post them when we get back.

Sporadic Posts?

Ladies and Gentlemen, my posts may be sporadic for a week or so. There are two reasons.... Tami and I are on vacation, and I am having MAJOR computer problems. Please continue to check in frequently. I will post whenever I can. Please don't lose interest. This is a minor bump in the road.

Gone

Tami and I were supposed to leave for vacation Monday morning. However, we let the excitement get  the best of us, and we decided to leave tonight (Sunday). We drove about a third of the way and stopped for the night. Myrtle Beach is but a short day's drive away!

Looks like I'm going to jail!

Confused again!
I think I'll pass...

Vacation Time!

I finished my 27th year of teaching today. I can’t believe I have been at it that long! Tomorrow my summer break begins and I am ready for some down time. The break begins with a bang. Tami and I leave for Myrtle Beach early Monday morning. It is just going to be the two of us. We haven’t gone on many trips alone, but it seems like we will likely have to get used to it. Michael is working at Dearborn County Hospital this summer, and Abby continues her full time employment at Richfield Laboratories. I guess as we stare down the barrel of the empty nest, traveling alone will be the rule rather than the exception.

Our trip takes us to The Dayton House Resort where we will have an oceanfront efficiency room. We got an awesome deal on this place. I am not expecting the Ritz Carlton, but I hope it’s not a Roach Coach Special either. The website makes the place look wonderful, but you know how that stuff goes! The place is likely a bit dated, but we can deal with that as long as it’s clean. I’ll let you know once we get there early next week.

Yum!

You haven't lived until you've had a maple bacon doughnut. Yes, that is maple icing with REAL pieces of bacon. I've had these before and they are so good (so good, yet so BAD for me).

Chick-fil-A

Chick-fil-A is one of the best fast food restaurants on the planet. The food is is top notch, the service is impeccable, and they are closed on Sundays. The Sunday closing is in observance of the Sabbath (The company is owned by Christians).

I knew Chick-fil-A had fresh chicken, but I had no idea it was quite THIS fresh.

Today's the day!

It's here! Today's the day! One of the happiest days of the year... The pool is ready! Come one, come all! Take a dip, then warm up in the hot tub. The Lago Vista Resort is open for business :-) (Lago Vista means Lake View).

Vacation

We are leaving for vacation in 10 days. We won't quite be going places like this, but a guy can dream, right? I wouldn't mind having a nice glass of wine and a steak at this place.

Plastic Bags

I'm all for causes and standing up for what you believe in. Even if I totally disagree with a person's belief, I still respect their dedication to the cause. It's when I see things like the photo below that I laugh. It's kind of like those environmentalists I mentioned a few weeks ago. The ones who claim to care so much about the earth and the environment. The same ones who left mountains of trash behind after a protest. Check out the photo below...

Too True!

This is almost too true. There was a news feature on TV last night about how young people are so glued to their phones and other electronic devices that they are missing what is going on in the real world because they are so wrapped up in the digital world.

Tami and I spent the whole evening together last night and we didn't have our faces attached to our phones. We actually talked to each other and enjoyed one another's company. Technology really has gotten out of hand and I think it is quite sad. Things that used to involve human interaction now require nothing more than an internet connection.

Irony!

You all know I LOVE irony.

I don't know if this is irony or "fire-ony".

My girls!

Here are my four favorite girls in the whole world. It was nice to have them all together for Mothers Day.

And just for good measure here is a really nice photo of two very beautiful women.

Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mothers Day to all you Moms out there. A special thank you to my own mom for always being there when I was growing up and for always taking care of we kids. Another thank you to Tami, the mother of my three children. An incredible mother who would do anything for her kids. Here's to all you moms... you have the most difficult and most thankless job on the planet.

The Biased Media

I don't have the time or the energy this morning to get into a political rant and frankly, I'm just not in the mood. However, I will briefly mention how disgusting it is that we have such a liberally biased media. If you don't believe me, just turn on any news channel, network or cable (except Fox News) and tell me if you EVER hear one positive thing about President Trump. Anybody? Anybody? Nope. I didn't think so. The media has perpetuated the whole fake issue of Russia meddling in our presidential election. They have been trying for months and have not found one shred of evidence. Everything the media mentions is anti-Trump and even Trump bashing. Look people, I understand Presidents have been the target of criticism since the beginning of time. It's the nature of the office, and I am in favor of criticizing the President when it's warranted. I'm not a huge Trump fan. I openly admit I voted more against Hillary than for Trump. I think some of the criticism of Trump is well deserved. The media however makes everything so ridiculously one sided. There is no give and take. The photo below is proof of just how far the media will go to say negative things about our President. The photo is 100% real. It has not been doctored. Scoops of ice cream? Really? Seriously? That's all the media can come up with? *SIGH*
if you're interested, here's more of the story. Not only did the President get extra ice cream, but he got preferential treatment with his beverage, salad, and entree too. Gasp! The horror!

The waiters know well Trump’s personal preferences. As he settles down, they bring him a Diet Coke, while the rest of us are served water, with the Vice President sitting at one end of the table. With the salad course, Trump is served what appears to be Thousand Island dressing instead of the creamy vinaigrette for his guests. When the chicken arrives, he is the only one given an extra dish of sauce. At the dessert course, he gets two scoops of vanilla ice cream with his chocolate cream pie, instead of the single scoop for everyone else. The tastes of Pence are also tended to. Instead of the pie, he gets a fruit plate.

Getting warmer

I've made some progress on my hot tub issue. I found that the water will heat, but only if I run the high speed blower. Troubleshooting with that information revealed the culprit is likely dirty and/or clogged filter cartridges. I tried cleaning the old filters, but it didn't solve the problem. Filters are only supposed to last 1-2 years. I don't know when the previous owner (my brother) last purchased new filters, but judging by their appearance, it was likely a long time ago. I ordered new filters tonight, and I will be very eager to put them in place to see if that solves the problem. We'll see, and I will let you know.

Eat more steak!

A few weeks ago I posted my utter disbelief in global warming. In that post, I mentioned many liberals are blaming cows passing gas for harming the environment. Don't believe me? Check out what former President Obama said today.

Former President Barack Obama warned the world that more people on the planet were eating meat, causing a dramatic rise in climate emissions.

“As people want to increase meat consumption, that in turn is spiking the growth of greenhouse emissions coming out of the agricultural sector,” Obama said, pointing to countries that were consuming more meat.

The former president shared his views about the growing threat during a conversation about food with his former chef Sam Kass at a food innovation summit in Milan.

“People aren’t as familiar with the impact of cows and methane,” Obama said, adding that “as people want to increase more meat consumption, that in turn is spiking the growth of greenhouse emissions coming out of the agricultural sectors.”

The amount of cows, Obama explained, were contributing to global pollution, alluding to the amounts of methane gas emissions from cow herds.

This whole statement is ridiculous enough. However, the icing on the cake is when Sam Kass tattled on Obama. He said he cooked thousands of steaks for the President over the last ten years. When Obama disputed that, Kass backpedaled a little and said, maybe not thousands, but hundreds of steaks. Sooooooooooooo, Obama wants to reduce the amount of beef we average folks eat, all the while scarfing down hundreds of steaks prepared by his own personal chef. Riiiiiiiiiiiiight!

Take a stand, America! Eat more steak! Cow poots be darned!

Late for work

Me (on the phone): Hello? Boss? I'm going to be late for work today.

Boss: Really? I'm surprised. You're always on time, Mick. What happened?

Me: Well, you wouldn't believe it if I told you.

Cold Water

My hot tub is giving me troubles again. For some reason the control panel will not allow me to adjust the the temperature to a higher level. The water is lukewarm and not at all worth soaking in. UGH! This thing has been a real pain in my neck. I am hoping there is something simple I'm missing. I will consult the owners manual again and see if there is some detail that has escaped me.

I don't really think it will come to this, but if I am staring down the barrel of the worst case scenario, I will use the tub for an alternative purpose. The photo below is my plan... and in all honesty, I like this better than a tub full of bubbling hot water.

Red Pepper

We just found out that Asher likes to eat red peppers of all things! I'm not posting this because he is eating peppers. I am posting it because he is so blasted cute! Those Mortons sure have three beautiful children!

Boo Hoo!

Not many things make me cry, but this does...

I don't believe this happened in the U.S., but it doesn't matter. Beer is beer no matter where you go. To see perfectly good beverages wasted like this is enough to make a grown man cry.
