Missing you today

This weekend we have family in town from California and Virginia. So I will be a bit preoccupied the next few days. However, I did not want to forget to mention one thing... Today's date is not lost on me. August 31st, 1990 is the date of my dad's death. He has been gone for 29 years. That fact alone is unbelievable to me. I'm missing you today, dad!

No rule of law

There is no equal justice under the law in this country anymore. Anybody involved in "The Establishment" (aka The Swamp), will never face any consequences for their rampant corruption. (See Hillary Clinton, James Comey, Barack Obama, Loretta Lynch, Bill Clinton etc...). It's just plain sad! They've been caught red handed and they skate every time!

Silly Joke

Did you hear about the big fight at the seafood restaurant?

There were battered fish everywhere!

Ba-dum-bum!

Changes

Grocery stores sure are changing! They now sell "quackers" in the chip aisle!

Saying Goodbye

It seems like just yesterday I was lamenting the disgusting algae as I opened my pool, and then singing the praises of copper based algaecide as I watched the water clear up in a matter of days. Now I sadly report the pool at Lago Vista Resort will probably close sometime in the next two weeks. It has been a good season, but the scorching hot days of summer are rapidly coming to an end :-(

I miss this

August isn't even over yet, and I already miss the freedom of going fishing. You can bet when I retire I will spend more time fishing than at home. But for now... back to teaching!

Bias

The social media giants are so biased against conservatives it's ridiculous.

Vote!

I wonder who this guy is voting for in 2020? I saw this vehicle on US 50 in Lawrenceburg a few weeks ago.

YMCA

We've all done it... we've all danced the YMCA at a wedding reception or party. You know... hold your hands up in the shape of a Y then M then C then A. You can probably hear the song now... It's fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A. This got me to thinking. How difficult would it be to dance the YMCA in Chinese?

A true act of kindness

I participate in a Hidden Vally Lake online message board. People discuss issues, buy, sell, and trade things or just have general discussions. A few days ago I posted a request for USED playground equipment for my school. I was simply looking for old basketballs or soccer balls that people might have laying in their garage or gathering dust in their basements. Well, let me tell you what happened today. A guy (who wishes to remain anonymous) sent me a message and asked if he could drop off some stuff. At 10:00 this morning he pulled into my driveway. When he opened his trunk I saw it was stuffed with BRAND NEW sporting goods. This guy and his kids went out and purchased 6 basketballs, 5 volleyballs, 2 soccer balls, 7 footballs, and 7 jump ropes. I was completely overwhelmed! I never expected such a true act of kindness. I honestly expected some old, tired worn out basketballs or maybe some soccer balls that had seen better days. Words cannot express my shock and delight at seeing brand new balls and jump ropes. The kids at my school are going to love this stuff. I can't wait until Monday to show them all their new toys. What an awesome way to begin the weekend!

I'm crying today

It's back to school for me today. I'm crying on the inside. This photo pretty well sums it up!

Family Reunion

We had a family reunion of sorts on Saturday. My second cousin from Elkhart, Indiana was in town and we all went to the Reds game. Beforehand we all gathered at my brother and sister and law's condominium on the river. A good time was had by all!

Racism

In today's culture EVERYTHING is racist. If you hold a different political view than a liberal, it's because you're a racist. If something doesn't go a liberal's way, it's because of white privilege or racism. Our country is not inherently racist. Do racists exist? Yes. Are there racists in this country. Again yes. However, racism is not nearly as prevalent or rampant as the mainstream media would have you believe. in fact, a very small number of people in this nation are racists. Unfortunately this is the card a liberal plays when they have no other ideological argument. "I don't have a coherent argument... so it must be because you're a racist!"

Socialism

Socialism. In the history of world economic systems, socialism has never worked (See Venezuela or the former Soviet Union) and never will work. Yet some of the most radical liberals would like us to believe that "Democratic Socialism" is different and will somehow work this time. It won't. You can dress up socialism many different ways, but it's still socialism. Remember... if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck... it's a duck. This country was founded in strong capitalist ideas, and it has flourished. No socialistic society has EVER thrived. Never ever ever prospered. In 2020 some democrats may run their election campaigns on socialist ideals. I hope they do. It will be the death sentence to their political aspirations.

Crazy Uncle Joe

Joe Biden was asked on Thursday about his favorite historical figure who was not a president.
His answer stunned his Iowa audience.

Joe Biden: “I think my favorite historical figure — there is a couple of philosophers who I find understood human nature better than most people. But in terms of political figures, maybe my favorite political figure, it is a tough call, I would have to say it is those people who gave America hope. Made them believe in who we are. You said not a president. I would have to start off with Jefferson, even though he didn’t live up to it. He is the guy that wrote that incredible document.”

Thomas Jefferson, who was the first person Biden named, was the third president of the United States.

Another gaffe…

Today in Iowa, Joe Biden said, “Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids.”

And Trump's the racist? I think not!

Uh oh! Crazy Uncle Joe stepped in it again!

My Dad

Recently somebody sent me some old photos. The first photo is my dad in the 7th grade (photo taken about 1955). The second photo is my dad as the coach of my first baseball team (photo taken in 1974). What really struck me was the t-shirts and how similar they are nearly 20 years apart.

I am dying to know what my dad was thinking in that first photo. He was obviously none too happy to be in this photo. He is clearly ticked off.

Note--- That is 7 year old me in the lower right of the second photo.

Spanking

This is 100% true!

You are NOT hired!

Check out this local advertisement. Notice anything? Look closely at the smaller print at the top. I do not trust anybody to work on my home that starts and advertisement with, "We was in the neighborhood..." and when they talk about "are services" that's a deal breaker. The word "Dryer" is not capitalized like the other words in the list, and there is no punctuation in the bottom paragraph. Sorry guys. Poor grammar probably means low job performance. You are NOT hired.

Sprinkle?

My school has cute little messages painted on the restroom stalls and doors. This one is on the girls restroom door. It says, "Kindness. Sprinkle it everywhere". I kind of think this is a poor choice of words for a restroom door. Sprinkle it everywhere? No! Please don't do that!

Already?????

I am in my classroom today getting everything ready for the upcoming school year. School officially starts one week from tomorrow. UGH!

Debate

The most recent democrat debates were more like clown shows...

They spent more time attacking Obama (and each other) rather than the President. They're eating their own and I love it!

More success

Michael and I went back to our new favorite fishing hole today. The action was slower than last time, but we still caught a few nice fish. What a great day!

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to my intelligent, lovely, wonderful wife. I wish you could see all of your children and grandchildren today. Unfortunately this is not possible without plane tickets. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Idyllic

I went back to my idyllic spot today. Here's another gorgeous photo of my beautiful fishing hole as well as a photo of the first fish of the day.
