The USS Texas

This morning we went straight from the airport to the San Jacinto monument and to tour the battleship USS Texas. The San Jacinto monument is the tallest obelisk monument in the world (Yes, even taller than the Washington Monument). The battleship Texas is the last remaining battleship that served in both World War I and World War II. It was absolutely fascinating! But more important than any of that stuff, we got to love on our grandkids... a lot!

We're here!

Greetings from Katy, Texas... a western suburb of Houston. We arrived safely this morning, and had a wonderful first day. There will be many details and photos to follow. Stay tuned!

Outta Here!

We are getting up at 4:00 tomorrow to head to the airport. We fly out at 6:45 and will land in Houston in time for a mid-morning breakfast with the Mortons. We absolutely cannot wait!

CNN

Is it any wonder why CNN has lost all credibility as a news outlet? CNN is a JOKE!

Texas Bound!

In just a few days we will fly down to Katy, Texas to visit our sweet grandchildren. Jessi and Barry will be there too. I guess we'll visit with them as well. Haha! Just kidding. We haven't seen them since January and we are so eager to visit.

Michael and Lauren, and Thomas and Abby will be keeping an eye on the house while we're gone and will make good use of the pool while they're here.

One of my favorites

Nothing special today... Just a photo of one of my favorite places in the whole world. This is the Marblehead Lighthouse in Marblehead, Ohio (Lake Erie). It is the oldest continuously working lighthouse on the Great Lakes. It's a wonderful place!

Memorial Day

In honor of those who fought and died for the liberties and freedoms we so quickly take for granted...

Clarification

Well, that clears it up.I was wondering why the patio was closed.

Beautiful!

What a beautiful sight! My classroom packed up for summer! I am READY for a break!

I'm outta here!

In 20 minutes I will walk out the door of my school for summer vacation. See the photos below if you'd like to know how I'm feeling.

This finishes my 29th year of teaching. I can't believe I will get my 30 year pin next year. Man, do I feel old!

2 hours

As I type this, my students are two hours away from walking out the door for the summer. Am I happy? I'll let you be the judge of that for yourself.

What a difference!

What a difference 4 days makes.

This is what the pool looked like on Sunday afternoon...
And here is what it looks like today (4 short days later!).
The pool at Lago Vista Resort is now open for the 2019 season. Now all we need is some swimmers!

And then there was one

After today only one day of school remains. This has been one of the TOUGHEST years I've had in 29 years of teaching. I'm hopeful year 30 treats me better than this one, but you never really know.

Soli Deo Gloria!

The Blame Game

The Mueller Investigation turned up absolutely nothing. The Democrats are losing their minds because they thought they would be presented with President Trump's head on a platter. Instead they only got more frustrated because they can't seem to find that our President committed a crime. And now the Democrats are turning on one another and they are starting to eat their own.

New Blue

These photos were taken 24 hours apart. Copper based algaecide (brand name Algae Shield) is amazing. I still have to vacuum the winter debris, but these photos are about the color and clarity of the water.

Mean Green

This past winter my pool cover was ripped to shreds in a wind storm. This resulted in rain water and debris making its way into the pool. The photo below shows what happens when there is a breach in your pool cover. A thick, algae laden pea soup. This is a mess that is going to take a long, long time to clean up. YUCK!

Going to Texas

In 13 days we fly to Texas to see the Mortons. Tami and I have already decided we have some catching up to do in the spoiling department. Can't wait to see everybody!

Finally!

Finally! At long last! Summer weather is arriving. Mid 80's this weekend with some humidity... just the way I like it! Just remember folks, you don't have to shovel humidity off your driveway! Of course there is a price to be paid... mosquitoes! You have to put up with skeeters in this wonderful summer weather.

Gone, but not forgotten

Tim Conway died this week. I have been watching him since I was a kid. I loved the Carol Burnett Show. I watched it live and I watched it in reruns. The comedy sketches are timeless classics. The antics of Mr. Tudball, Dorf, and the oldest man are comedy gold. I think my favorite parts were when the actors cracked each other up. Especially when Tim Conway would get Harvey Korman laughing uncontrollably.

Tim Conway is gone, but his comedy will live forever. Thanks for the laughs, Tim.
