Late Bloomers

As a parent of late bloomers (2 out of 3 of my kids anyway), and as a teacher, I found this quote quite appropriate. It really is true! Kids develop at different rates and learn in different ways. No two kids are the same. Heck, all three of mine are completely different from the others.

31 years

February 24, 1989. The date that changed my life forever! 31 years ago today I had the first date with the love of my life. I have never regretted one moment since that fateful night. Happy first date anniversary, honey. I love you!

Miracle

February 22nd... Today would have been my parents' 56th wedding anniversary. It's also the 40th anniversary of the Miracle on Ice. On February 22nd, 1980, the United States Olympic hockey team defeated the Soviet Union in a stunning upset. I remember I was at my grandparents' house in Mt. Healthy because my parents were out to dinner to celebrate their anniversary. Two days later the Americans defeated Finland to win the gold medal in Lake Placid, New York. The victory over the Soviet Union still resonates with our nation today. It os quite arguably one of the greatest moments in American sports history.

Dreaming

February is 3/4 done. I am dreaming of getting back out and doing some fishing. It has been a long winter. I am ready for spring and ready to tussle with some lunkers!

I meant to post this yesterday, but ran out of time.

Happy 12th birthday to my sweet Sveta. I can't believe she will be a teenager next year!

Forgot my lunch

When you forget to take your lunch to work there is only one thing to do... Improvise. Stale pretzels and peanut butter. YUM!

Getting old when...

You know you're getting old when you visit your high school and your class composite is faded and yellow. This made me sad...

St. Bernard High School class of '85.

These Kids!

Two words... These kids! My heart is BURSTING with love!

My four favorite words

Today I get to hear four of my favorite words… PITCHERS AND CATCHERS REPORT!!!!!!!!

I know it’s only mid-February, but there’s something about the Reds starting spring training that feeds my soul. Before long position players will report, and not long after that spring training games. I can’t wait for Opening Day and for Reds baseball to return for another year. Lord, I sure do love baseball!

Bernie Sanders

Bernie Sanders, a self-described Socialist, is the current frontrunner in the Democratic primaries. Think about that for a minute... a Socialist is the leading candidate to challenge President Trump in November. Do people realize what socialism is? Do they not realize socialism has failed everywhere it has been implemented (See the former Soviet Union, or Venezuela). Socialism DOES NOT work! It has never worked anywhere else, and it is not going to work in the United States. You can't take the greatest capitalist nation in the world and turn it into a socialist nation. The Democrats need to wake up, or their presidential candidate will be a socialist. And by the way... Mr. Bernie Sanders who believes all wealth should be equally distributed, owns several multi-million dollar homes. So I guess it's socialism for the masses, but Bernie continues to accumulate wealth. Sounds fair to me. Wake up, America! Vote Trump in 2020.

Acquitted!

More winning from our President! Today the Senate acquitted President Trump of all charges. The sham impeachment is over and this will backfire on the democrats... BIG TIME! Just like last night's despicable act of ripping up the President's speech will backfire. Thank you, democrats for gift wrapping the 2020 election. We appreciate it!

The ULTIMATE in disrespect

Did you watch President Trump's State of the Union speech last night? If you didn't, you missed an incredible speech. However, this post is not about the President's accomplishments and this speech touting them. This post is about what happened IMMEDIATELY after the President finished speaking . Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi stood up and promptly ripped her copy of the speech in half. This is the most despicable, disrespectful thing I've ever witnessed at a SOTU speech. I can deal with the opposing party not applauding or standing up in ovation. But this act of pure evil defiance is the worst I've seen. Did you ever see Newt Gingrich tear up a speech? No, you didn't. This is because he had too much class to be so petty. I couldn't stand Presidents Obama and Clinton, but I sure never would have supported ripping their speech in half on national television. Especially with the President standing right there! What a vile act!

No winter break

Apparently moles don't take a winter vacation. Sunday evening I set my trap and by Monday morning I trapped this fat little menace. He has been tunneling through my yard all winter. On Sunday the weather was finally warm enough for me to get outside and set the trap. All I can say is the moles are no match for Mole Man Mick! Moles fear me!
