Two out of three
Houston, The Eagle has landed!
Those words were spoken by Neil Armstrong as he and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon in the Lunar Module. While Neil and Buzz landed and walked on the moon, somebody had to orbit the moon and monitor operations. That somebody was Michael Collins. Michael Collins died today. Neil Armstrong died in 2012. Now Buzz Aldrin is the only remaining member of the Apollo 11 crew. Godspeed, Michael Collins!

El Arroyo
There is a Mexican restaurant in Austin, Texas that has become well known for its signboard. There is a whole story about how this all got started, and about the process of deciding what goes on the sign. There are even books with nothing but this restaurant's messages. There are many that are not family friendly, will therefore not get posted on this blog. However, here are a few I thought were pretty funny...

So Busy Lately
This is not so much a blog post as it is a general announcement. There hasn't been much on the blog lately. This is the busiest time of year for teachers, and I just haven't had the extra time to put into thoughtful blog posts. Don't give up on me. I will be back in full force soon. As always, thanks for reading.

School
School can be stressful. Case in point... check out the two photos. One taken the morning of the first day of school, the other taken after she got home. Tells a story, doesn't it?

Please Don't!
There is a sign on the girls' restroom door at my school. it says, "Kindness is free. Sprinkle it everywhere". I can't help but laugh at the irony of that staement on a restroom door. Girls... Please DON'T sprinkle it everywhere!

Costco
The carts at Costco are extra large for a reason. You go in looking for a few items and wind up with a $200 cartful of stuff you never knew you needed. How do they do that? Somebody is marketing genuis.

Grilling for life
Never let it be said I haven't been grilling all my life. Here I am at the age of 3 or 4 already learning how to season steaks. I have LITERALLY been grilling my entire life!

Record Setting Day
The Reds season is exactly half an inning old, and two opening day records have already been set. The game time temperature is 37 degrees which is the coldest on record. The Reds gave up six runs in the top of the first inning... the most ever on opening day. UGH!
Opening Day
Happy Opening Day! An unofficial holiday in Cincinnati! My beloved Cincinnati Reds today start their foray into what promises to be a mediocre season. But that's okay... baseball is baseball and I love it!
I'm no fool
Thank goodness I am on spring break. April Fools Day is one of the worst at school. Children think they are hilarious with their silly barrage of April Fools jokes. It is such a disruption to the learning process.
On a related note... I refuse to participate in April Fools Day. It's completely senseless and has no basis in a celebration of any kind. April Fools Day is a celebration of what, exactly? Nothing. Forgive the pun, but the whole day is just plain foolish.
