Danish Oil?

Warning! Do not make the same mistake I did. I put this Danish Oil on my cheese danish, and let me tell you... It tasted terrible! I also had a terrible stomach ache afterward. Danish Oil my foot! I think I'll stick with just plain danish next time.

Hickey

No, sweet little Isaac is not being beaten... He has taken to sucking on his own arm and is giving himself a hickey. Who ever thought a hickey could be so cute?

The CUTEST Easter Bunny

Isaac just had his first Easter. Here he is taking a nap because he is tuckered out from coloring and hunting for Easter eggs. Don't you just love his little bunny tail?

My New Job

Yep! I have a new job. Don't panic, folks. I didn't quit may teaching job. This is my SUMMER job. I will be driving the shuttle from the Hampton Inn to the airport and back again. It's roughly a ten to fifteen minute round trip that runs every half hour. I will be working from 4:30 AM until 9:30 AM. When I am not running the shuttle, I will be helping Tami in the breakfast area. It's not much, but it's honest work. A few extra bucks in these terrible economic times can't hurt either. I will be making about $12 an hour, but I'm banking on making some decent tips. We'll see. Below you can see a photo of my cool ride. Can't you just picture me driving this beauty?

I'll be back!

Loyal Blog Readers,

A few nights ago, Abby texted and asked where the blog posts were lately. That text prompted the following explanation:

Please accept my apologies for being sporadic (if not completely absent) from making blog posts in the last 9 months or so. There are many legitimate reasons for this (several of which would bore you), but here are a few that may explain why the blog has not been up to its usual standards. Last year on June 28th, my mother-in-law moved in with us. While her presence in our home did not prevent me from posting, it did take up a lot of my time accommodating her, and taking care of her needs. She moved into her own apartment at the beginning of February 2022. You would think that blog posts would have picked up at that point, but they didn’t. Another reason blog posts have dropped off so drastically is that I am having a VERY DIFFICULT school year. Honestly, when I get home from work, all I can do is plop myself on the couch and feel mentally drained and completely exhausted. There isn’t much energy left for writing and posting on the blog. The good news is school is out on May 5th. After that, I hope to feel some sort of reprieve in my schedule, and in turn have more time and energy to devote to the blog you have come to know and love. Thank you for understanding. I love posting on the blog, and I am still surprised that even one person would take the time to read it. With that in mind, please check back frequently and Lord willing there will be more posts than you have seen in the last year or so.

Carpal Tunnel

I am happy to report my lovely wife came through her carpal tunnel surgery just fine. The procedure took less than half an hour and the doctor said she did great! She will need a couple weeks to recover. Her hand is numb, tingly, and swollen. As the local anesthesia wears off, her hand is beginning to throb as well. Hopefully this will alleviate the tremendous pain she has been experiencing the last several months. I know she is looking forward to gaining full function of her hand as well as being able to sleep without being awakened by pain.

Spring Broken

Maybe these scholars in Memphis need to cancel spring "brake" and spend a week working on spelling and grammar.

Runs in his blood

Isaac comes by it honest. His mom reports he loves the FISH PAGE in his book. He's gonna be Goppa's little fishin' buddy!

Accidental Art

A few weeks ago we pulled into church to find a flock of wild turkeys near the barn on our back lot. As I was attempting to document these turkeys, I found that I accidentally took a beautiful photo that would be worthy of a painting.

Sad Irony

Do you see the sad irony here? We purchased new filters for our refrigerator water dispenser. Notice the American flag packaging? That must mean "Made in the USA", right? Nope! Check the text... Made in China. So sad!
