Do You remember?
Do you remember where you were 44 years ago today? I sure do. 44 years ago today the Beverly Hills Supper Club burned and 165 people were killed. It was terrible, awful, tragic night. I remember my family was at my Aunt Rita's house for a family party. I also remember the adults being glued to the TV. We kids didn't really have a grasp on what was going on, but years later, as I have researched the topic, I realize what a horrific night it was.

A matter of hours
In a matter of two hours, my students will leave for the summer and 31 years of teaching will be in the books. And as I like to say to parents on the last day of school, "TAG! You're it!"

And then there were two...
5, 4, 3, 2, 1... Blastoff!
In two hours I will have completed my second to last day of school. Tomorrow is the last day with my students and I complete my 31st year of teaching. That's a staggering thought!

It's Time!
It's time! The pool is open! This is a terrible photo, and it needs a major vacuum job, but at least you can see the water is clear. That's always a good feeling. No algae, and no cloudiness. Just plain, clear, cold water.

It's almost time
I can't believe it's almost time to open the pool. Yesterday I hooked up all the plumbing (Hoses, pump, etc...), and started topping off the water level. Today I will remove the cover, make sure the water level is where it needs to be, shock it with chlorine and fire up the pump. The pool will be ready for this coming weekend when the temperatures will approach 90. I doubt I will do any swimming, but it's ready if I decide to take a dip. Stay tuned, folks! The Pool at Lago Vista Resort will be operational in a matter of days.

I'm no chef
Have you ever watched a chef chop vegetables on television. They do it quickly, expertly, and seemingly effortlessly. Anybody who has ever chopped vegetables knows this is far from the truth.

Playing Roulette
This is a little game I like to call Hand Washing Roulette. This is the hand washing basin at my school. Yep! A circular sink. The problem is water only comes out on 25% of the sides. The center piece also spins in place. The kids mess with it all the time and you never can tell where the water will or will not come out. It's a good thing I'm not a gambler. Even though I have a 1 in 4 shot at getting water on the first try, I'm lucky if I get water on the first try 1 out of 10 times. I'm looking forward to our new school where ALL the sinks will work.

Chlorine Shortage
COVID strikes again! There is word there may be a national chlorine shortage this summer. This is bad news for pool owners. We use liquid chlorine to shock and sanitize our pools. The article I read said by the end of May liquid chlorine will be nearly impossible to find. Not wishing to be on a constant, futile hunt for chlorine, I decided to stock up before the public at large learns about the coming high demand for liquid chlorine. I purchased 39 gallons today. Hopefully this will get me through this pool season.
