It's official!

And Abby makes three!

It's official! On Saturday night Abby accepted the marriage proposal of Mr. Thomas C. Bell. These two lovebirds are now engaged. Although the date has not been firmly set, a wedding is likely in December of this year.

I'm one proud dad of our baby girl.

It never ends...

And the hits keep on coming! The winter that never ends. April 7th and it is freezing outside with snow on the ground. Our community yard sale was not officially cancelled today, but I've not seen a soul pass by the house this morning. In years past it has been a veritable traffic jam in Hidden Valley Lake on yard sale day. It's tough to have a spring yard sale when there is half an inch of snow on the ground. People are not going to venture out into cold weather to buy a candle holder for a quarter. UGH!

Smoking Ham

On Easter Sunday I smoked a ham for our family dinner. For the first time in my short career of smoking meat, I was disappointed in the results. The ham was good, but it wasn't much better than a regular ol' baked ham. The smoky flavor was minimal and was not worth the trouble. Maybe my expectations were o high. I was expecting to have my socks knocked off, but instead found myself with a rather blah reaction. Oh well. You can't win 'em all!

Bottom Fell Out

This is getting ridiculous! Yesterday the temperature was 70 degrees. Today the bottom fell out and the temperature is below freezing with a windchill. A windchill factor in April. Are you kidding me? Apparently old man winter is NOT kidding. Accumulating snow is in the forecast for Friday night and Saturday morning. Granted, 2"-3" is not exactly a crippling blizzard, but it's 2"-3" more than I'd like to see in April. Sheesh! Give us a break already!

Here's the view out my back door this morning, April 2nd. It's not a lot of snow, but it's still snow.

And the beat goes on... Today is April 1st and there is snow in the overnight forecast. If you know me, you know I don't joke about the weather. I take it VERY seriously. So let me repeat that... SNOW in the forecast. S-N-O-W! Snow in April. No more. Please make it stop. I'm supposed to be mowing my lawn, not shoveling snow!
