Native American

Much has been said about Elizabeth Warren claiming to have Native American ancestry. She used this claim to get hired as a professor at Harvard, and she even went so far as to say she was the first woman "of color" to teach at Harvard. This whole thing is a SHAM! A recent DNA test revealed Warren to have 1/1024th Native American Blood. The farce was compounded when it was revealed her tiny drop of Indian blood was from South America, and not North America as she claimed. Not to be deterred, Warren shouted from the rooftops and took on a "See? I told you so!" attitude. What makes this so comical is that most European Americans are more than 1/1024th Native American anyway. So I guess I am just as much (if not more) Native American than Elizabeth Warren. Does this make me and my children eligible for benefits earmarked for Native American? I seriously doubt it. So here's what I have to say to Elizabeth Warren. Stop it. You are making yourself look so silly!

In what universe are these two bite brownies? These may be two biters for a toddler, but not for me. Heck, I could probably fit three of these in my mouth at the same time. Two bites? Are you kidding? Two bites? WHATEVER! Here's a photo... judge for yourself. The quarter is for scale.

No Swimming

You won't catch me swimming in here. These are Croc infested waters. Hahahaha!

It's the economy

In 1992 Bill Clinton was running for President against George H.W. Bush. During the campaign, strategist James Carville coined the phrase, "It's the economy stupid". This was apparently in response to a question about what it would take to get Clinton elected. Fast forward to 2016. As Donald Trump was campaigning for President, he promised an improved economy. That's exactly what we've gotten in the last two years under Trump. A booming economy. The unemployment rate is down, welfare recipients are down, the stock market is up, taxes have been cut, and the American people generally have more money in their wallets. With the midterm elections less than three weeks away, why should we vote Republican? Duh! It's the economy stupid!"

Partying Birds

This news article cracked me up. Apparently birds are eating fermented berries and getting drunk. They are flying under the influence! Something about this doesn't seem quite fair. These birds are getting schnockered and I am going to work.

They’re colliding into windows. They’re ramming into cars. They’re "acting confused." Apparently, birds in Gilbert, Minnesota, are flying under the influence.
The Gilbert Minnesota Police Department announced this week officials have received several reports of “drunk” birds in the community, which have been intoxicated by "certain berries" that have fermented sooner than usual this season, the police department wrote in a public notice on Tuesday.

An early frost has “expedited the fermenting process,” officials said. “Many birds have not migrated south, so it appears to be more prevalent than in past years. It appears that some birds are getting a little more ‘tipsy.’”
Younger birds, specifically, have a harder time handling their alcohol. According to the Gilbert Minnesota Police Department, the younger the bird, the less efficiently their liver can handle the “toxins” from the fermented berries, officials said.
Some species of birds — such as robins, cedar waxwings and thrushes — are more likely than others to become intoxicated from fermented berries, according to The Washington Post. These birds prefer berries over insects and typically overindulge on the former before flying south for the winter.

Run Over

It's Sunday night. The grandkids are in bed... finally. Did anyone happen to get the license number of the truck that ran me over? Now I know why God gave little ones to young parents. We old folks just can't hack it anymore. I need a handful of Tylenol and a long night's sleep. Unfortunately sleep is not likely to happen. Elliott gets up several times a night. Once he gets me up it takes a while to get back to sleep. I need to go back to work where I can get some rest.

A brief hiatus

Ladies and gentlemen, and loyal blog readers,

Tami and I will be babysitting our three grandchildren all weekend. This is a full time endeavor and leaves very little time for making silly blog posts. Therefore it is not likely I will be posting anything here until Monday. If I can steal a few moments I may post something short, but don't look for anything of length or substance. The midterm elections are less than a month away. We'll know very soon if the democrats' smear campaign of Justice Kavanaugh backfired. Let's hope so!

Rainbow

This photo was taken about an hour after the sunrise photo below. The photo is not particularly special, and the colors had begun to fade by the time I snapped it. I'm posting this photo because I think it's unusual. This is not a normal rainbow. It's not in the shape of a rainbow and it did not appear under the conditions when you would usually find a rainbow. I'm not really sure what this is, but I'm sure the prism must be related to the sunrise and the atmospheric conditions at the time. Another bright spot in my day at work.
