Dog Days Early?

I usually consider August the dog days of summer. However, I think the dog days have arrived early this year. Temperatures have been over 90 the whole month of July (we even had some triple digit days mixed in). It hasn't rained in many weeks and the earth is parched here in the tri-state. My lawn is scorched beyond repair and the rest of the yard doesn't look much better. Since I've returned from vacation, I really don't feel motivated to do any yard work. There's no grass to mow and the whole yard is going to look cruddy no matter what I do to it. At this point I'm like a lazy ol' dog laying on the porch.
