No Spring Chickens

Tami and I have been married for 28+ years. We have raised three children together. We have experienced the myriad peaks and valleys that everyone goes through in a long marriage. As we now inhabit the empty nest, we realize with each passing day that we are getting older. We do not hide from the the fact that we are reaching the back half of middle age and will be senior citizens in the blink of an eye. We embrace our age, and are thoroughly enjoying growing old together. We aren't enjoying watching (and feeling) our bodies fall apart, but we are enjoying our time as an "old married couple". Tami often laments her aging skin and other parts of the natural aging process. I tell her she is more beautiful today than she ever was before, but she doesn't believe me. I don't blame her. I miss my 25 year old skin and body too. In the end, there is nothing we can do about it. In God's grand and perfect plan, our bodies are not designed to last. We all break down and we all grow more feeble with each passing moment. Let's face it, we're no spring chickens anymore. But hey, spring chickens don't have as much fun either.
