In my day, you asked your child if he/she wanted to ride the big, bad rollercoaster. The answer was usually no. Then you tried to talk them into it, and he/she still said no. Then you basically forced the issue, watched with delight as he/she had the time of their lives as they sped up and down the hills. And you know what happened next? They hopped off the rollercoaster and BEGGED you to let them ride it again.
