It's a HOLIDAY!

It ranks right up there with Christmas and Thanksgiving. Reds Opening Day in Cincinnati is an unofficial holiday. The whole city is decked out in red, adults take the day off work, and kids play hooky from school. It's a real event! The festivities start early with the Findlay Market Opening Day Parade, followed by countless parties, and special events downtown, ending with the Reds first game of the season. Even people who don't have tickets to the game head downtown for all the revelry.

What's the big deal, you ask? That's an easy one. Winter in Cincinnati STINKS! No matter how severe or mild, there is nothing good about winter in Cincy. Opening Day is the official death blow to winter and welcomes spring with open arms. The return of baseball is when hope springs eternal. Winter is gone, spring is here, the earth is bursting with life, and the whole city wakes from a dreary slumber that began back in November.

Happy Opening Day! It's a great day to be a Reds fan!
