In theory

This graphic is good in theory, but extremely short in practicality (at least where I work). Where I work there would be several gears with missing teeth, many wrenches binding up the works and not much oil keeping things in working order. Instead of three simple gears, I'd characterize my school as a Rube Goldberg machine (google it).
