Time is strange

Time flies when you're having fun. One minute of sit-ups seems like an eternity. Close your eyes for 5 more minutes in the morning, an hour passes. Close your eyes for 5 minutes at work, one minute passes. Time is a strange thing. Our perception of time is even stranger. Time is constant. A week is seven days no matter how you slice it. It's never any longer or any shorter. But compare a weeklong vacation to a week of hard labor. The hard labor will seem like it never ends. The vacation will pass seemingly in the blink of an eye. When you're a kid, Christmas seems like it will never arrive. When you're an adult you can't believe Christmas arrived so quickly. "Christmas? Already? But it was just Thanksgiving!" You get the picture. Our perception of time is influenced by our circumstances. The graphic below refernces Europe, but I think it could just as easily apply to Cincinnati.
